Next Social Security payment in the U.S. for eligible retirees
Retirees can receive their monthly payment on the third. If not eligible for that payday, Social Security benefits are usually deposited on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday in March.
The Wednesday payments are only for those retirees who are not on Supplemental Security Income and started getting Social Security after April 30, 1997. To know the exact Wednesday when you could receive your monthly payment, you must check your birth date.
Social Security for those born from 21-31
Next week’s Social Security payments will be deposited in eligible recipients’ bank accounts whose birthdays are from 21-31. So, if you were born after the 20th of any month and you have not collected your payment yet, March 26 will be your payday.
While most retirees born from 21-31 will get direct deposits on March 26, others may have requested a paper check or a payment through a Direct Express debit card.
Generally, all payments are deposited on time. So, check your bank account or mailbox on March 26 to see if your money has been deposited. If you need to change to get your direct deposit in a different bank account, do it online or visit your local Social Security office. DOGE has announced that it is not possible to do it by phone to avoid fraud.
Social Security payment amounts on the 26th
The maximum retirement benefit payment in 2025 is $5,108. Therefore, this will be the largest direct deposit or check on March 26. This huge payment is only for high earners.
They must have filed for Social Security at 70, worked for 35 years in jobs covered by SSA, and earned the contribution and benefit base for all those years or more. Thus, it is almost impossible for most workers to achieve it.
On average, as of January 2025, the Social Security payments for retirees are worth $1,978. Spouses and children can also receive benefits on the workers’ record.
