A Printed ‘Playboy’ Magazine Is Returning to Newsstands Next Month

A printed Playboy magazine is set to hit newsstands for the first time in years—raising once again the question of whether people will read it for the articles, or something else. 

The issue’s publication had already been announced by PLBY Group (PLBY), which said it would be an “annual edition,” last year. On Thursday, the company offered more details about what it would entail, including an interview with comedian Nikki Glaser and model-actress Lori Harvey—whose adoptive father is television personality Steve Harvey—on the cover.

The issue, due Feb. 10, will contain “an unforgettable mix of cutting-edge content, bold storytelling, and unparalleled cultural insight,” the company said. “This edition brings back everything that made Playboy a cultural icon while introducing a fresh perspective that resonates with today’s world.”

The news marks the latest twist in the brand’s long history. Founded by Hugh Hefner in the 1950s, Playboy became widely known for its centerfolds but also its in-depth interviews and cultural coverage. It hasn’t appeared in print since 2020.

Meanwhile, the broader company is publicly traded, with a market value below $200 million according to Visible Alpha. In November it reported quarterly revenue of about $13 million. The shares, which traded slightly lower Thursday, are up more than 50% over the past 12 months.
