UnitedHealthcare has agreed to a multi-million settlement related to unauthorized telemarketing calls.
A federal judge in Washington granted preliminary approval to a $2.5 million settlement to resolve claims UnitedHealthcare repeatedly made telemarketing calls after the recipients asked to be removed from their contact list, TopClassActions reported.
The settlement covers some 12,000 people. Settlement members will likely receive between $350 – $1,000; if each responds payments will be $90. The lead plaintiff in the case will receive $20,000; attorneys handling the case will get $833,333.

To be eligible for payment, individuals must have received one or more prerecorded phone calls between Jan. 9, 2015 and Jan. 9, 2019 from UnitedHealthcare despite not being a customer.
Eligible individuals will receive a notice via email or mail with a unique log-in code and password to complete the online form. The deadline for claims is April 15. A final court hearing on the settlement is June 20.
