Major equity averages turned mixed Wednesday, while yields jumped, as Wall Street assessed a hotter-than-anticipated monthly U.S. consumer inflation report.

The Nasdaq Composite (COMP:IND) was up less than 0.1% after losing much as 1.2% earlier in the session. Advancers included
